After 3 near starts the runners finally got away at the fourth time of asking, with Oddfellow jumping off in front. With a mile to go Oddfellows still led the way from favourite Heaume, but 4 furlongs from home the field began bunching with Memoir, Alloway and St Serf all contesting the lead. At the distance Sainfoin squeezed Blue Green on the rails allowing Memoir to be sent to the front by Watts. Memoir held on by a comfortable 2 lengths in 3 minutes 13.6 seconds, with a length between the unlucky Blue Green and Gonsalvo. Memoir did not show too much promise at two, but showed she had trained on by securing second place in the 1000 Guineas, winning the Oaks and then capturing a second Classic victory in the St Leger. | Over Round 111% |
